About the edition
Ciara Phillips’ screenprint A Lot Of Things Put Together (Weight) was produced by the artist in collaboration with DCA Print Studio for the DCA group exhibition There Will be New Rules Next Week, bringing together prints by Sister Corita Kent (1918 - 1986) alongside five contemporary artists inspired by her printmaking and life-affirming teaching.
Phillips, who is interested in working with prints in an expanded sense, produces textiles, photographs and wall paintings. For There Will Be New Rules Next Week she realised an expansive multi-panel piece on cotton, printed in DCA Print Studio. The work is inspired by banners from the Mary's Day parades of the Immaculate Heart Community in Los Angeles, where Corita Kent was active as artist and teacher.
The title A Lot of Things Put Together is taken from Sister Corita Kent's 1970 book Damn Everything But the Circus, an A B C book celebrating the 3-ring circus as a metaphor for life. The pair of screenprints are comprised of the two main images from this piece.

About Ciara Phillips
Ciara Phillips was born in 1976 in Ottawa, Canada and now lives and works in Glasgow. Phillips has recently shown alongside Sister Corita Kent at Spike Island, Bristol last year and has recently contributed a text to a major new monograph on Someday is Now: The Art of Corita Kent (Prestel).
Recent exhibitions by Phillips include Inverleith House, Edinburgh; Spike Island, Bristol; Gregor Staiger, Zurich; Outpost, Norwich and CEAAC, Strasbourg. Upcoming is an exhibition at Showroom, London. Phillips is the 2014 artist-in-residence at St. John's College, Oxford and has been nominated for the Turner Prize 2014.Own Art
