About the edition
Produced for Cove Park in DCA Print Studio, this limited edition CMYK screenprint by Graham Fagen is part of the Cove Park Portfolio. It is available individually or as part of a complete boxed portfolio that includes prints by the following artists: Claire Barclay, Christine Borland, Nathan Coley, Graham Fagen, Louise Hopkins, Ross Sinclair, Simon Starling. The Portfolio is presented in a high quality, lined, fabric-covered handmade box, designed by Sarah Tripp and produced by Downie Allison Downie Bookbinders, Glasgow.
Fagen works in a variety of ways to create artworks that examine what he calls ‘cultural formers’. His print for the Cove Park Portfolio uses an iconic image forged from his ‘library of ideas’ that first appeared in his 2005 solo exhibition and publication Clean Hands, Pure Heart at Tramway, Glasgow, and then in a photographic print in his 2006 solo exhibition Closer at doggerfisher, Edinburgh. It references notions of identity, symbolism and cultural associations, with particular reference links between Scotland and Jamaica at the time of the poet Robert Burns. Each time Fagen reworks this strong, graphic historically sourced image he repositions it in a new context. The printed version uses a four-colour process, causing the image to slightly fragment, thus adding a sense of dramatisation to its form.

About Cove Park
Cove Park is an international artists’ residency centre located on an outstanding 50-acre rural site overlooking Loch Long on Scotland's west coast. The residency programme supports national and international artists working in all art forms and at every career stage. Artists are given the time, space, freedom and financial support required for research and the development of new work. Cove Park's visual arts programme also commissions new work for presentation on site or for exhibitions with partner venues; the first Cove Park Portfolio (2007) includes limited edition art works and prints from seven leading artists connected to Cove Park and the west coast.
Scotland + Venice 2019 - the Scottish presentation at the 2019 Venice Biennale - was commissioned and curated by Linsey Young with Cove Park and the commissioned artist, Charlotte Prodger, presented a major new solo exhibition in Venice in 2019. Cove Park celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2020.About Graham Fagen
