About the edition
Christian Stock participated in DCA’s exhibition Timecode, which marked the 10th anniversary of DCA and brought together artists with an interest in concepts and representations of time. Stock exhibited his celebrated cube paintings, produced slowly, painstakingly and incrementally over years, alongside a contrasting wall drawing, produced on site in the gallery using a spontaneous and gestural paint process.
These three editions relate to the artist’s wall drawing of the same name, Quicksilver – a title suggestive of the uncanny motion of liquid metal or of changeable properties. They were made by the artist in the Print Studio while he was at DCA to complete his wall installation. The fluidity and movement generated by Stock’s expressive mark-making form a direct contrast with the rigid permanence of the metal etching plates chosen to capture and transfer his marks onto paper.
