About the edition
Cara Tolmie’s practice spans installation, performance, video, music, text and spoken word. She developed these screenprints in DCA Print Studio to coincide with her 2011 exhibition Read Thou Art and Read Thou Shalt Remain at DCA.
As part of her installation she developed a model of an interior theatrical scene with a small stage which became the set for an imagined opera to subsequently take place. These prints directly reference the scene that featured in Tolmie’s video work Chronicle screened at DCA. The intricate array of triangular sections in these prints are inspired by the hand made parquet-style wooden tiles that formed the floor of the model’s interior.
