About the edition

Following their recent participation in our group exhibition DCA Thomson, artists Hideyuki Katsumata and Sofia Sita decided to create an edition together collaboratively in our Print Studio. Nice to Meet You is the bold and playful result of the creative moment when the artists' two minds and artistic worlds collide.

Japanese artist Hideyuki Katsumata depicts robots, UFOs, dragons and bodies with multiple limbs or eyes in vivid and engaging imagery that chimes with both Japanese culture and Dundee’s own comics and video games heritage. Following his first solo exhibition at DCA, USO de HONTOU he returned to participate in our group exhibition DCA Thomson in which his large scale gallery mural responded to the comic archives of Dundee publisher DC Thomson.

Sofia Sita is an artist and illustrator based in Dundee, who has exhibited locally and in her home country of Italy. Her painting focuses on the relationship between humans and society, playing with the shape of the subjects illustrated. Inspired by The Broons, Sita created a new work for the exhibition DCA Thomson celebrating The Dundonians – a happy and heterogeneous family of DCA visitors. Prior to the exhibition opening, Sita painted a mural outside the galleries and invited members of the public to take photographs of themselves and their self-defined ‘families’ in front of it.
