About the edition

Japanese artist Hideyuki Katsumata depicts robots, UFOs, dragons and bodies with multiple limbs or eyes in vivid and engaging imagery that chimes with both Japanese culture and Dundee’s own comics and video games heritage. His DCA exhibition USO de HONTOU featured a large-scale mural and prints made at DCA alongside several of Katsumata’s joyous pop videos.

Katsumata’s imagery in these new editions is inspired by Journey to the West, an allegorical 16th century Chinese novel in which a legendary pilgrim monk travels to the western world in search of enlightenment, accompanied by three protectors.
